Sochae, a social enterprise clothing line committed to sustainability and social advancement, launched its new website today http://www.sochae.com. The social retailer designs eco friendly clothing, and donates 100% of their profits to charity.
Sochae gives their consumers the ability to shop responsibly, while improving society through the use of their purchasing power. The company features organic clothing for men, women and children that are made from 100% organic cotton, and other eco-friendly materials that are gentle on the environment. The designs are not only trendy; they serve a specific purpose of raising awareness on social change. "It's the perfect marriage", said Nicole Somberg, director of operations. "Clothing is a basic necessity, and the industry is earning billions of dollars in profit annually, so why not use some of it to improve our communities and protect our planet."
The organization's social responsibility efforts are focused in two primary areas: environmental and social commitments. In terms of protecting the environment, Sochae's commitment goes beyond an "eco friendly only" product line. They have pledged to give a minimum of 1% of their annual sales to various grassroots environmental organizations, through an alliance with 1% For the Planet. Sochae also works with a host of local and international non profits doing good works to change our world. "Sochae is a great addition to the network. By signing on to 1%, it shows they're really walking the walk in their sustainability efforts," says Terry Kellogg, 1% CEO. "They're using generosity as a tool with which to build their business and enabling valuable environmental work along the way. We're excited to welcome them to the 1% family."
"Our social commitments couldn't be more clear", said Brigham Coombs, executive director. "Use what is necessary to maintain a self sustainable business, then reinvest the profits into social programs working hard to improve society."
Everyday, calls are made on regular citizens to do something positive to change the world. The founders of Sochae decided to respond to that call by creating a platform where environmentally responsible shopping meets social change awareness and funding. Opportunities exist all across the globe, from helping a family in a third world country gain access to clean water, to joining the fight to end global poverty. Seize your opportunity to do something by supporting the launch of sochae.com.
