Federal employees pledged $66.7 million*, as of today, to help people and communities in need through the 2010 Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area (CFCNCA). The 2010 CFCNCA, which ran from September 1, 2010 through January 17, 2011, is the largest workplace giving campaign in the world and the only authorized workplace giving drive of employees in the Federal workplace.

Federal employees pledged funds to more than 4,000 participating local, national and international charities, despite a tough economy, reaching out with help and hope to millions of people in need. This year, more than $15 million in pledges were made online through e-Giving, an increase of more than $3 million over 2009.

Addressing a gathering of about 1,000 Federal campaign volunteers at the campaign finale event, Linda J. Washington, Local Federal Coordinating Committee Chair, said, "Because you cared, you are creating shelter for homeless families living in our own city, protection for our oceans, comfort and recovery for a wounded veteran and their families and millions more stories of restoration, promise and hope. Thank you for changing lives locally, nationally and around the world."

Of the $66.7 million pledged, uniformed and civilian Department of Defense personnel gave more than $17 million for the second year in a row and the Department of Health and Human Services, the largest civilian agency, raised a record $6.1 million.

The CFCNCA is the top-grossing campaign among approximately 211 individual CFC campaigns held nationwide during 2010. Since Global Impact assumed management of the CFCNCA, donations have grown over seven consecutive years, from $47 million in 2002 to more than $66.7 million* in 2010.

*These results represent only reported pledges as of today. Due to the outpouring of generosity of the Federal employees, we are still receiving and processing the pledges. The final audited numbers will be available in April.
