New Generation Energy (NGE), a nonprofit whose mission is to make America's communities healthier and more sustainable through the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, today announced that for the month of December it will expand its regular donation match program to allow donors to specify any service-providing charitable organization to receive a 100% match on their project support donation.

The Local-Match program works in combination with New Generation Energy's microfunding website, where donors can support efficiency and renewable energy projects located at community nonprofits, saving energy, and lowering carbon emissions. Here's how it works: After supporting a specific green energy project, donors have two options for their match. In addition to the standard option of doubling support for their selected project, donors can choose the Local-Match option and have their donation match support a nonprofit located in the same community or town.

Director Chuck Lewin comments, "Local-Match is a whole new way to think about donation matches. We believe this program will have a big impact, and get people excited about donating to support green energy projects as well as the communities in which they reside. All of this is made possible by generous individual and company supporters who will match donations for green energy projects, and donations to nonprofits within the same community."

Local-Match is scheduled to last through the 2010 Holiday Season, however total funds are limited. The best way to guarantee availability of matching funds is for donors to support a project online at NGE's website www.newgenerationenergy.org.

Selected Local-Match nonprofits must be within the same town or community as the supported project. They must be qualified 501(C)(3) organizations that provide a community service. Typical qualifying organizations include shelters, community centers, health centers, soup/meal kitchens, and nonprofit schools.
