"Sustainability and social responsibility are fast becoming an integral part of corporate global organizations. Translating broad strategy statements into standard operating procedures presents many challenges not only for core organizational functions, but especially for the ever-growing network of the global supply chain," said Wanda Lopuch, President of the Global Sourcing Council. "In the outsourcing industry, whose roots lie in labor arbitrage, social responsibility has been viewed as an oxymoron. In spite of these challenges, there is an emerging wave of innovative, new enterprises in both the buyers' and suppliers' segments who embrace the business strategy of 'doing well while doing good.' Most often it is the local, small scale initiatives that do not receive visibility or recognition, even though these are the foundation upon which 3S practices are built. It was this challenge that prompted the GSC to initiate the 3S Awards program to showcase real examples of Sustainable and Socially Responsible Sourcing in action."
The 3S Awards recognize individuals, start-ups, and companies (e.g. suppliers, buyers and advisory organizations) that have worked to innovate, implement and improve Sustainable and Socially Responsible Sourcing practices. Example solutions can take the form of new business opportunities created to bring about social and economic benefits in tandem, as well as the advancement of business opportunities that demonstrate a concern for sustainability and the long-term impacts on all resources: human and environmental resources, privacy rights, data security, intellectual property and other non-economic factors.
Potential contestants for this award include: suppliers and practitioners of Sustainable and Socially Responsible Sourcing, buyers dedicated to implementing best practices in 3S, consultants, advisors, analysts and everyone in between!
Submissions for the 3S Awards will be in the form of videos (not more than 3 minutes, 15 seconds in length) and PowerPoint presentations (not more than 9 slides) uploaded to the 3S Awards website: www.gsc3sawards.com. Each submitted video or presentation will be preceded by a brief questionnaire. These uploaded submissions will be evaluated by a world-class panel of sourcing experts for the three classes of awards: 3S Community, 3S Engaged Employees and Out of the 3S Box.
Get ready to woo the general audience and make your submission the choice of the people! The Best Socially Responsible Global Sourcing Example Award will be presented to the submission voted highest by the sourcing community.
No program or solution is too small for a submission to the 3S Awards. If it has an impact on the social fabric of a company or a community, the 3S Awards are meant to recognize the value and influence of the initiative.
