International Paper Joins World Environment Center to Advance Sustainability Leadership Activities

International Paper (NYSE: IP), a global paper and packaging company, today announced that it has joined the World Environment Center (WEC), a global non-profit organization, to advance its business commitments and practices in enhancing sustainable development across its value chain.

International Paper employs more than 60,000 people across its worldwide business operations that include an extensive North American merchant distribution system with primary markets and manufacturing operations in North America, Europe, Latin America, Russia, Asia and North Africa. In 2010, International Paper was named No. 1 for the eighth consecutive year in the Forest Products sector of Fortune magazine's Most Admired Companies list. Ethisphere magazine also listed International Paper as one of the world's most ethical companies for the fourth consecutive year.
