Created by the Aspen Global Leadership Network, the Aspen Institute Energy and Environment Awards recognize and reward excellence for those making a real contribution to innovation, implementation, and communication of energy and environmental solutions. The object of each award is to celebrate success and provoke intellectually stimulating and productive thinking and conversations about ways to emulate and expand upon the success stories honored.

"We are delighted with the 2010 award winners. They represent several of the most innovative thinkers and organizations from around the world, and their work helps expand our thinking about the vital energy and the environment challenges we face," said Bill Dirks Co-founder and Board Chair of the Aspen Institute Energy and Environment Awards.

The Aspen Institute Energy and Environment Awards are proudly sponsored again this year by CH2M Hill. The Aspen Institute Energy and Environment Awards are presented during the Aspen Environment Forum, a gathering of more than 300 thought leaders that will take place from July 25-28, 2010, at the Institute's Aspen Meadows campus in Aspen, Colorado. The 2010 Aspen Environment Forum is a public gathering of more than 300 thought leaders, scientists, journalists, academics, policy makers, and citizen, presented by the Aspen Institute and National Geographic.

The Aspen Global Leadership Network is comprised of over 1000 entrepreneurial leaders from 43 countries, all of whom have participated in the Henry Crown Fellowship or one of the 12 leadership initiatives whose creation it has inspired. All of the initiatives seek to foster values-based leadership, encourage Fellows to move from "success to significance" in their lives and leadership, and ultimately, to make a difference in the world. The Aspen Institute mission is twofold: to foster values-based leadership, encouraging individuals to reflect on the ideals and ideas that define a good society, and to provide a neutral and balanced venue for discussing and acting on critical issues. The Aspen Institute does this primarily in four ways: seminars, young-leader fellowships around the globe, policy programs, and public conferences and events. The Institute is based in Washington, DC; Aspen, Colorado; and on the Wye River on Maryland's Eastern Shore. It also has an international network of partners.
