In addition to a participating in a multitude of community and athletic fundraising endeavors, the Heffernan Foundation will introduce its first annual Walk for Humanity in Walnut Creek, Calif., on September 25, 2010. The five-mile walk will begin at Heffernan's headquarters and event proceeds will benefit nonprofits that assist individuals, families and communities in the areas of education, food, shelter, and the environment.

More than 150 Heffernan employees in nine different cities throughout the nation have completed or will participate in 2010 volunteer projects that provide food, clothing, housing and healthcare services as outlined below:

• Habitat for Humanity East Bay, Oakland, Calif., May 12th - 25 employees
• Habitat for Humanity of St. Charles, Miss., June 2nd - 1 branch manager
• Red Cross Blood Drive, Walnut Creek, Calif., June 29th - 25 employees
• Volunteers of America, Portland, Ore., Jun 21st - 6 employees and family members
• Cultivating Impact, Santa Rosa, Calif., Aug. 3rd - 10 employees
• San Mateo County Food Bank, San Carlos, Calif., August 4th - 10 employees
• Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Event Volunteers, San Francisco, July 9th - 6 volunteers
• Contra Costa Food Bank, Concord, Calif., June 9th and July 13th - 14 employees
• Shelter Partnership, Los Angeles, July 15th - 12 employees
• Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Walk, Boston, July 23-25th - 7 walkers
• Meals on Wheels, San Francisco, August 18th - 5 employees
• Nike Half & Full Marathon for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, San Francisco, Oct. 17th - 31 participants
