New Standardized Metrics for Employee Volunteer Programs Available to Companies Seeking to Measure Impact

Companies that have long wanted to measure the ROI (return on investment) and impact of their employee volunteerism programs now have new standardized metrics to utilize, thanks to the HandsOn Network.

As the number of Employee Volunteer Programs (EVPs) continues to grow, a standardized approach to EVP reporting, measurement, and performance benchmarking has become a critical need. HandsOn Network's new Employee Volunteer Program Reporting Standards responds to that need.

HandsOn Network's Corporate Service Council is proud to present the newly revised 2010 Employee Volunteer Program (EVP) Reporting Standards. These standards were developed by a group of key stakeholders under the guidance of the Corporate Service Council’s ROI & Standards Committee.

"Standardized metrics are very important, both in making certain the employee volunteer is getting what they want from the experience, and for gaining buy-in from senior management," said Paul Bueker, Executive Director of GE Volunteers Foundation. "Most importantly though, we want to be able to measure the impact on the communities that we serve."

The new standards include metrics for measuring the valuation of volunteer hours, the dollar rate of straight return on investment, and the dollar rate of social return on investment, as well as other key areas of reporting. These standardized key metrics will allow the corporate volunteer community to track trends and benchmark their programs' returns.
