While the World Cup finals continue to captivate millions of global soccer fans, the One World Futbol Project (www.oneworldfutbol.com)-a new, socially-responsible business-today debuted the One World Futbol, the world's first, ultra-durable, all-terrain soccer ball.

Recognizing the global need for a resilient soccer ball, the One World Futbol Project sells the new ball on its website through a "Buy One Give One" model. For every ball bought at retail (U.S. $39.50), the One World Futbol Project is donating a second ball to a non-governmental organization (NGO) working with people who live in harsh environments around the world, including refugee camps, UN hot spots, and inner cities. The ball is also available for bulk sales to institutions and organizations-with heavily discounted pricing for NGOs.

"We are part of a growing trend of socially-responsible companies looking for ways to help global communities while at the same time operating a sustainable business," said Tim Jahnigen, inventor of the One World Futbol, and co-founder of the One World Futbol Project. "Our 'Buy One Give One' model, combined with the ultra-durable nature of the ball, enables individuals to help give everyone the opportunity to play soccer with a ball that matches the endurance of the sport."

The One World Futbol is designed to be the most durable soccer ball in the world. Inspired by video of Darfur refugees playing soccer with a makeshift ball, Jahnigen shared his idea for the One World Futbol with world-renowned entertainer Sting, who then funded the ball's development.

"When Tim came to me with his idea for a football [soccer ball] that could be played on any surface and would never need a pump and never go flat, I immediately thought of all the millions of children and young people who could use the ball in refugee camps, conflict zones, and poor communities all over the world," said Sting. "I hope you'll join me in supporting the [One World Futbol] Project."

The One World Futbol Project also runs the One World Futbol Project Foundation, which distributes balls for free through NGOs, serving communities in need around the world.

One World Play Project

One World Play Project makes, sells and distributes products and services to enable play around the world, especially for those living in the harshest environments where play is nearly non-existent. The company is a B Corporation, harnessing the power of business for social good. Collaborating with sponsors, organizations and individuals, the company works to support, enable and expand the transformative power of play in all its forms—anywhere and everywhere.

For every One World Futbol purchased through our Buy One, Give One program, One World Futbol Project gives a second ball to organizations working with youth in disadvantaged communities worldwide where play and sport are used to foster social change.

Play is in our DNA. And where play happens, change happens. We believe play is a necessity of life—children need to play to learn and grow. Play helps us recover from trauma, cope with challenging situations and develop physical, psychological and spiritual health. Play enables hope, optimism and opportunity. In play, every child is a superhero, dreams can be realized, traumatic moments are temporarily forgotten and healing can begin—that is the power of play.

One World Play Project is headquartered in Berkeley, CA with regional offices in Asia, South America and Africa—and distribution centers in Fremont, CA and Voerde, Germany. In May 2012, Chevrolet became the founding sponsor of One World Futbol Project, pledging to donate and support the distribution of at least 1.5 million Chevrolet-branded One World Futbols worldwide over three years.

To date, the One World Futbol has reached more than 175 countries through hundreds of organizations bringing the transformative power of play to an estimated 35 million youth worldwide.
