Social(k), the nation's most diverse socially responsible retirement platform, will be launching its own West Coast office in San Francisco, CA May 27 from 7-10 p.m. at the launch celebration of the Hub - SoMa, a co-working space for a global and local community of change makers opening at 901 Mission Street, near the Powell Street BART/MUNI stop. Representatives from the media as well as interested companies and organizations are invited to attend.

Social(k) is made up of almost 200 socially responsible mutual funds in addition to more than 4000 conventional funds to provide investors flexibility in meeting investment goals. The office will enable Springfield, MA-based Social(k) president Rob Thomas to operate from the facility when in town supporting the work of the numerous Bay Area advisors providing Social(k) to their mission-driven clients interested in socially responsible retirement plans. Thomas set up the office after he found that approximately 25 percent of his clients and 10 percent of advisers registered with Social(k) were based in the Bay Area.

Some of the more than 40 Social(k) clients based in the Bay Area include New Resource Bank, Parnassus Investments, Hog Island Oyster Co. and the U.S. Green Building Council - Northern California Chapter in San Francisco as well as Green for All, Numi Tea, and the Ella Baker Center in Oakland.

In addition, more than fifty advisors registered with Social(k) (10 percent of the 500l) are located in the Bay Area. Leading advisers include Timothy Yee of Green Retirement Plans in Oakland, CA, who chose to convert all his firms' retirement plan work to Social(k) in April 2009. As a result, business has boomed with companies nationwide signing on and there are numerous plans in the pipeline.

More than 60 million in assets have been moved to Social(k) since its launch in 2006.
