U.S. Chamber's BCLC Names Microsoft's Badshah to Chairman of the Board Post

Nine Leading Corporate Citizens Also Join Board

WASHINGTON, D.C., May 13 /CSRwire/ - The U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Business Civic Leadership Center (BCLC) named Akhtar Badshah, Microsoft Corporation's senior director of Global Community Affairs, as chairman of the Board for the 2010-2011 annual term. Nine executives representing all sectors of business joined Badshah and existing members on the Board.

"Corporate citizens are dealing with many complex disaster and development challenges from Haiti and the Gulf Coast to communities across the United States," said Stephen Jordan, senior vice president and executive director of BCLC. "With Akhtar's leadership and the addition of a tremendously talented group of executives representing significant companies and industries, BCLC continues to ramp up the capacity of business to make a positive difference to society."

The new nine members are:

  • Shannon Meyer, President & CEO, Cedar Rapids Chamber of Commerce

  • Bo Miller, Global Director, Corporate Citizenship, The Dow Chemical Company

  • Rhonda Mims, President of ING Foundation and Senior Vice President, Office of Corporate Responsibility and Multicultural Affairs, ING North America Insurance Corporation

  • Paula Prahl, Vice President of Industry and Public Affairs, Best Buy Company, Inc.

  • Eileen Sweeney, Director of Corporate and Foundation Philanthropic Relations, Motorola Foundation

The additions further enhance BCLC's capacity to drive private sector engagement in key areas of global development, disaster recovery, sustainability, and community involvement.
