This past weekend in sunny Los Angeles, Ode Magazine's May 2009 issue was awarded a Maggie from the Western Publishing Association (WPA). The Maggies, also known as the Oscars of the magazine industry, have been awarded annually for 59 years and recognize hard work, dedication and creative talents in today's publishing industry. Competition was fierce for Ode; finalists in the Political and Social Issues category include the esteemed Mother Jones, Reason, Sierra and the San Francisco Bay Guardian. We're proud to receive this 2010 Maggie award for the May 2009 issue.

Ode's winning issue features articles about "the morality of money" and "how to build a economy based on altruism, not avarice." The May 2009 issue also includes stories like "Organic top: 20 products for body, soul and planet," "Real-life heroes: How comic books are changing lives," and "Down with doctatorship! Getting military thinking out of medicine."
