Architect John Hudson, who runs a thriving architecture practice in Homewood, AL, announces the formation of a non-profit architecture firm called 100 Fold Studio. The mission of 100 Fold Studio is to offer affordable & innovative architectural services to global ministries as well as form alliances with organizations in need of highly qualified architects.

The vision of 100 Fold Studio, a biblical reference to the Parable of the Seed -- Mark 4:1-20, is to multiply the studio into a global network of licensed architects that are readily available to serve in missions. Focusing on long-term internships, 100 Fold Studio provides a unique opportunity for a young architect to work towards licensure while serving third-world communities. Interns from Auburn University's Urban Studio program are joining 100 Fold Studio this summer.

In June, Hudson and 100 Fold Studio will be relocating their offices to the campus of Youth with a Mission (YWAM), an interdenominational mission organization, in Lakeside, Montana. The move will allow 100 Fold Studio to immediately form strategic partnerships with YWAM's operations in over 150 countries.

Projects for 100 Fold Studio in 2010 include both global and Alabama ministries:

  • Vapor Sports Ministries - Togoville, Africa - Prototype Soccer Fields & Health Clinics serving 1000 youth/year. Vapor based in Fayetteville, AL.

  • Haiti/Dominican Republic - Pre-fabricated orphanages and community buildings. Working with several ministries from Alabama and nationally.

  • Habitat For Humanity - first USGBC LEED certified home in B'ham (Owners have occupied the house, LEED Certification in process).

  • YWAM Montana - Campus Master Plan, Cafeteria Addition & Staff Housing to serve 750 missionaries a year.

  • YWAM Nepal - Discipleship Training Center & Dorms to serve a church community of 10,000 Nepalese.

Hudson explains, "A traditional architecture firm is limited to 3 pro bono projects. Through 100 Fold, we can design 30+ projects a year in third world communities. Your giving impact tens of thousands of lives. It’'s an exponential investment."

100 Fold Studio is currently conducting a fundraising drive until mid-June with a fundraising goal of $120,000.00. These funds will cover operational costs, international travel and salaries. For more information, visit www.100foldstudio.org.
