/PRNewswire/ - On Wednesday, March 31, ministers and leaders from around the world will gather at the United Nations for the UN Haitian Donors conference to pledge millions of dollars to the Haiti reconstruction efforts. But while millions are being pledged, the Haitian homeless are still living in tents and under sheets of plastic, exposed to the elements and violent crime and growing frustrated.

At the same time on Wednesday, March 31, across the street from the UN, a grass-roots effort by Icology Group will be building a housing unit that provides shelter that is low cost, easy to transport, can be built in four hours by a handful of volunteers with no previous experience and provides watertight and wind resistant homes for a family of 6-8 people.

The I RAD home, a 16' x 8' mold proof, termite proof and fire resistant home arrives in a flat pack package with all the tools needed to build and has been specially adapted to the Haitian market, to provide extra security for women and children.

The I RAD home will be assembled in the Diplomat Ballroom of the Millennium UN Plaza, at 44th Street between 1st and 2nd Avenues, from 6pm Tuesday until 7 pm Wednesday.
