Employers, educators, training professionals and other stakeholders of clean energy workforce development will have a special opportunity to engage discussion with experts in the field at the Northeast Workforce Development Workshop to be held on March 30, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency, Boston.

This meeting will be a collaborative day-long opportunity for stakeholders to network while learning about and discussing the critical issues of:

    1. Training, accreditation and certification; and
    2. Leveraging resources among myriad related workforce development efforts.

"We are very excited to be offering an opportunity for energy efficiency workforce development stakeholders to converge and discuss," said Ed Schmidt Director of Regional Deployment Initiatives at NEEP. "The workshop is going to be an excellent event that will offer attendees the sought-after opportunity to frame the future course for energy efficiency workforce development efforts in the Northeast."

Benjamin Goldstein of the US Department of Energy will provide valuable insight on the DOE's initial thoughts on national certification standards with a focus on the residential sector. A packed afternoon panel featuring Kevin Doyle, New England Clean Energy Council; Marybeth Campbell, Massachusetts Clean Energy Center; Nancy Snyder, Commonwealth Corporation; and Bill Leahy, Institute for Sustainable Energy (ISE) at Eastern Connecticut State University will present examples and discuss important opportunities for states to coordinate efforts to build workforce capacities to deliver energy efficiency solution at scale.

The workshop will kick off the 2010 Northeast Energy Efficiency Summit March 30-31 at the Hyatt Regency in Boston, MA. In addition to the Workforce Development Workshop, the event will feature a full day conference with speakers and panel presentations, and an all-day exhibit area that will showcase the latest energy efficiency technologies and solutions. An additional event throughout the day will celebrate business leadership in energy efficiency. Throughout the conference, the Summit will showcase the successes and challenges of public policies and programs that advance energy efficiency as the leading clean energy resource for the Northeast.
