Center for Companies That Care today announced its 2010 Honor Roll, a national list that recognizes employers for outstanding workplace cultural best practices and active community involvement. The eighth annual Honor Roll celebrates 29 U.S.-based organizations of all sizes in diverse industries headquartered in 18 states. Recipients will be officially honored at an April conference in the Chicago area.
"In the midst of a challenging economy, it's especially inspiring to see employers around the country not losing sight of employee engagement and community service," said Marci Koblenz, Co-founder and President of the organization. "They understand that practicing these values contributes to their bottom line. When employers care, it not only benefits individuals, families, and communities, it also can give them an advantage with customers, employees and investors."
Honor Roll recipients are selected for their steadfast commitment to their employees and the broader community as well as adhering to all 10 Characteristics of a "Company That Cares." Each Honor Roll organization sustains a work environment founded on dignity and respect for all employees, develops great leaders, and actively supports the community, among other outstanding attributes. Two key components of the selection process are a written application and the results of an anonymous, random employee survey.
"Our Honor Roll understands the importance of doing the right things. An example is their approach to rising health care costs. These employers emphasize wellness and provide free or low-cost screenings and other programs to promote healthy lifestyles. The results are better health and lower health care expenses overall," said Cynthia Cobb, SPHR, Board Member and Honor Roll Program Chair. "It's a win-win-win for the employees, their families, and the employers."

Individuals and organizations are encouraged to either donate books or raise funds that will be used to purchase books for 1000 classrooms. If we all do a little, we can accomplish a lot!
