Sustainable Life Media is hosting the final session of its inaugural SB Boot Camp 13-week training series in sustainable business with a comprehensive look at how online communications are increasingly impacting public relations efforts at the world's better brands. Sandy Skees, CEO of Communications4Good, Mario Vellandi, SLM Social Media Manager, and Lynn Anne Miller, Founder of 4GreenPs, will present a 90-minute session on PR/Social Media and Alternate Community Building Strategies.

SB Boot Camp series II kicks off in March with a new group of speakers to once again present perspective, ideas and best practices for turning sustainable innovation into revenue growth and brand equity from sustainability experts.

SB Boot Camp I, session 13, will review how digital communications is bringing brands, activists, bloggers, journalists, partners, and customers together in new and evolving ways. Various forms of social media have exploded over the past four years, giving brand communicators a wide range of challenges and opportunities. Skees, Vellandi and Miller will provide a strategic framework that can be aligned to company goals; explore the various tools and tactics for listening and engaging with audiences through blogs, social networks, and Twitter. The presenters will explore word-of-mouth best practices and legal considerations, the essentials of search engine optimization, and case studies of how companies are using social media to communicate and converse with stakeholders on CSR and sustainability. Miller will present on how to understand and reach out to green bloggers.

Sandy Skees, CEO of Communications4Good, is a senior international public relations/marketing strategist, providing communications counsel and programs that create bottom line results in people, planet and profits through end-to-end stakeholder relationship management. She has more than 20 years experience at global and boutique agencies, as well as corporate marketing experience at an international technology company. Mario Vellandi works with Sustainable Life Media in community engagement, social media channel strategy, and content production. Vellandi helps clients, including small businesses, nonprofits, and event companies, with digital PR and web marketing and guest lectures at UCLA on employing social media for good. Lynn Miller runs 4GreenPs, a green marketing consultancy which has helped clients such as Seventh Generation develop and execute communications strategies. She is active in the green blogosphere at OrganicMania™, Your Guide to Making Sense of Healthy Green Living™, and a Founder of the Green Moms Carnival, a group of bloggers who raise awareness of environmental issues.
