Rabat - HRH Princess Lalla Salma, President of the Lalla Salma Association to Fight against Cancer (ALSC) took part Saturday at the Palace of Hosts in Rabat, the work of the General Assembly's regular year-end 2008 association.

After the presentation to members, partners and donors, a moral, financial and accounting by the Board of Directors and the auditor, the various resolutions were adopted by the General Assembly.

Members of the General Assembly commended the Board for the various achievements of the ALSC, affecting social and medical aspects of the fight against cancer in Morocco and encompassing several areas of intervention, such as prevention, early detection, diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients, all actions that result in national and international mobilization around this problem.

At this general meeting, the Board of Directors of the ALSC has expressed his thanks to members of the General Assembly for their trust and support to the association.

After the close of the General Assembly, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Salma, President of the ALSC, accompanied by Their Royal Highnesses Princess Ghida Talal and Princess Dina Mired of Jordan, respectively President and CEO of the Foundation King Hussein Cancer "in Amman, has chaired several ceremonies to mark the National Day of fight against cancer, celebrated November 22.

His Royal Highness has presided over the signing of a Framework Partnership Agreement between the ALSC, represented by its Secretary General, Ms. Latifa El Abida, and the University Hospital Center Vaudois Lausanne, represented by Dr. Jean-Blaise Wasserfallen medical director and several members of the medical institution.

This agreement aims to develop training through various exchanges and internships, expertise, research in the field of cancer and support the development of the National Plan for Prevention and Control of Cancer.

HRH Princess Lalla Salma has also chaired the presentation of certificates to some participants in various courses and training organized by the ALSC.

These courses were for both specialists and generalists that physicians and nurses, and focused on different areas of the fight against cancer (surgery, radiotherapy, medical oncology, smoking cessation, management, communication, psychosocial oncology and chemotherapy).

These courses and workshops were held both in Morocco and abroad (France, Switzerland and United States) for the benefit of about 500 professionals.

HRH Princess Lalla Salma conducted by the same token, the awarding of certificates attesting to the National Competition "Colleges and high schools without tobacco", attributed to the Lycée Moussa Ibn Noussair Khemisset and college Anassi Sidi Bernoussi (Casablanca).

The King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) The King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit institution founded in 1997 by a Royal Decree to combat cancer in Jordan and the Middle East region. KHCF is the legal umbrella organization responsible for the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC), the Foundation’s medical arm. The Foundation is comprised of a Board of Trustees, a dedicated group of prominent volunteers, chaired by HRH Princess Ghida Talal. The Director General of KHCF is HRH Princess Dina Mired, and Dr. Mahmoud Sarhan is the Director General of KHCC.
