Initiative G2, a certified CA Women's Business Enterprise, announced ongoing discussions with three large U.S. electric utilities and California municipalities regarding plans to roll out major energy reduction education programs in 2010 to meet new federal mandates.
Initiative G2 is focused on supporting energy efficiency education programs among utility consumers, with an emphasis on outreach and behavioral change. Initiative G2 is seeking potential bid partners, participating in the California Energy Commission's RFP 400-09-403 related to SEP funding for the California Comprehensive Residential Building Retrofit Program, and needing an experienced First Tier solution provider to join their coalition.
In 2009, Initiative G2 successfully delivered 2.4 million CFLs to the doors of 1.2 million residents of Los Angeles in coordination with the energy reduction objectives of the LADWP (Los Angeles Dept. of Water & Power). Initiative G2 "demonstrated strong initiative and a positive attitude toward program accomplishment." said Lucia Alvelais, LADWP's Manager of Residential Energy Efficiency. "Their application of effort and innovative spirit serve as valuable assets to any company and project."
Initiative G2 is perfectly positioned to join with municipalities that are bidding for CA CRBRP funding to perform residential energy efficiency retrofits and create new jobs. Tara Henson, Initiative G2's Senior Vice President said that, "Recent discussions have revealed declining compliance numbers for some existing programs, and Initiative G2 is responding with programs that begin with pre-awareness studies that target low compliance or underserved populations with opt-in delivery programs, and conclude with post-awareness studies and success metrics."
Utilities and municipalities who find themselves more and more pressed for ongoing reductions in energy use across their consumer base, and increased scrutiny from consumers and governmental regulators, have expressed their enthusiasm for Initiative G2's custom built, fully trackable, end-to-end programs.
Initiative G2 uses bilingual packaging and education around our ConserVerde.com brand to educate and communicate with Hispanic consumers within a distribution population. To view selected pre-awareness study data in the form of in-person "man-on-the-street" interviews, go to www.conserVerde.com
"These projects are important to all of us," says Terri Simpson, CEO of Initiative G2. "The health of the planet is at stake. Our programs are dynamic and always aimed at achieving positive long term results across broad segment of the population. Utilities and municipalities realize the importance of being green, and we can certainly provide important leadership towards supporting them in achieving those goals."

About Initiative G2's LADWP Program
Initiative G2 delivered 2.4 million CFL bulbs to L.A. county residents from April - June 2009. The LADWP CFL replacement program is projected to save $61.3 million in fuel costs for generating electricity and will save Angelinos $100 per household on energy bills over the lifetime of the bulbs," added Simpson. "Replacing two incandescent light bulbs with CFLs will avoid the burning of 800 pounds of coal and its associated emissions."
