Sustainable Gaming Standard Committee Launches Newsletter

Sustainable Gaming Standard Committee Launches Newsletter

The Standards Committee that is leading the development of a national standard for sustainable gaming has launched a free e-newsletter loaded with valuable and insightful information to educate the public about the initiatives being undertaken to bring sustainability to the gaming industry,

"Our goal," says Nancy Mancilla-Georgescu, Secretary of the Standards Committee and Chief Executive Officer of ISOS Group, "is to help those involved with the gaming industry including manufactures, vendors, casino operators and end users understand that environmental, economic and social sustainability is easily achievable and will become interchangeable within the industry. While the first issue will detail the standards process, subsequent editions will deliver ideas for what can be expected from the standard, how it will be introduced and additional pointers to enhance sustainability in and around the industry."

"We are extremely happy with how this newsletter turned out and expect that it will be a great asset in getting out our message to the public," said Eric Hansel, Standards Committee Chair and President of EGM Green. "Based on a recent Poll about green technology and other environmentally-friendly activities, it appears that the gaming industry has yet to fully embrace such measures. 18% of respondents believed it was very important and have taken major steps along those lines. 46% think it's somewhat important and are exploring options or have taken small steps. Besides providing additional support to those with initiative already in place, we hope that the information in the newsletter will convince the remaining 36% that it is time for them to make a transition."

Leonardo Academy, the ANSI-accredited charity facilitating the development process for the sustainable gaming standard was also responsible for the distribution of the newsletter. Those interested in being put on the mailing list for the free bimonthly newsletter are encouraged to contact Leonardo Academy at gamingstandard@leonardoacademy.org. Newsletters will also be available from Standards Committee members. For a list of participating organizations, visit http://www.leonardoacademy.org/programs/standards/gaming.html.
