On Saturday October 24, 2009 Union Settlement Association will host non-profit Free Arts NYC and East Harlem children for a fun, exciting day of creative arts. The event is one in a series of rallies promoting the importance for afterschool programs in Manhattan and across the country.

Sponsored by Victoria's Secret, the Free Arts Day will include diverse urban-inspired arts activities throughout the day. Seventy-five children, each paired with a volunteer mentor, will participate in theme-based art stations and interactive entertainment, including a workshop by acclaimed New York City-based break dancing ensemble, BREAKS KRUE.

At 12:00 pm Free Arts will present Afterschool Hero awards to District 8 City Council Member Melissa Mark-Viverito and Victoria's Secret for their continuous support of community-based afterschool programs.

The event will take place from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Union Settlement Association, 237 East 104th Street.
