StartingBloc and Intertek Sustainability Solutions invite you to join us on Saturday, October 24, 2009 as we celebrate social innovators at StartingBloc's Bloc Party II at STUDIO 54. At Bloc Party II, StartingBloc's second annual Fellow-run fundraiser, attendees will connect with 250 emerging leaders who are working to advance the fields of corporate social innovation, social entrepreneurship and sustainability. Together, we will enjoy delicious food, libations, and inspiring people and ideas.

This year, StartingBloc will present the inaugural Social Innovator of the Year Award to Majora Carter, an environmental justice and green jobs pioneer from the South Bronx. Carter, a MacArthur "Genius" Fellow and one of the NY Post’s Most Influential NYC Women for the past two years, has a track record of creating solutions to complex social, environmental and economic challenges, making her the ideal candidate for this award.

Also joining us at Bloc Party II will be a number of other tremendous individuals in the world of social entrepreneurship and innovation from organizations and companies including Acumen Fund, All Day Buffet, Ashoka, the Boston Center for Corporate Citizenship, Criterion Ventures, CSRwire, Echoing Green, Endeavor, Inc. Magazine, Fast Company, Fortune Magazine, JustMeans, Net Impact, NYWSE and SoCap.

Last year's Bloc Party raised $13,000, which supported 13 StartingBloc Fellows in attend StartingBloc's Institute for Social Innovation. Join us in reaching this year's goal of $25,000 by participating in our silent and live auctions, bringing your colleagues and friends, and engaging your organization.


  • Silent and live auctions will feature prizes from the MoMA, Superfly Productions, the Council on Foreign Relations and Milk & Honey, among others, as well as one-hour sessions with Cheryl Dorsey, President of Echoing Green, and David Bornstein, author of "How to Change the World: Social Entrepreneurs and the Power of New Ideas" (Oxford University Press).

Regular and advance tickets entitle attendees to hors d'oeuvres, an open bar and unlimited networking.
