Hundreds of employees of Apartment Investment and Management Company (Aimco) are making a significant difference in their communities as part of a nationwide Community Service Day on Wednesday, October 14.

To celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Aimco Cares philanthropic program, Aimco team members have organized activities across the country to promote community service and to assist those in need, especially during these tough economic times. Through Aimco Cares, each Aimco employee is given 10 paid hours annually to apply toward a volunteer activity, reflecting the company's commitment to being a good corporate citizen.

Aimco's Community Service Day will involve more than 60 volunteer projects nationwide that include providing assistance to victims of the recent flood in Atlanta; building homes for Habitat for Humanity in Phoenix and Boston; fall clean-up activities in community parks in Denver and Philadelphia; serving meals to the homeless at the rescue mission in Miami; sorting donations at the Second Harvest Food Bank in Irvine, California; and volunteering to help residents at a retirement home in Houston.

"We're pleased to launch national days of community service this year, and to help those in need in the communities where we live and work," said Terry Considine, Chairman and CEO of Aimco. "Volunteer service is an important component of Aimco's culture and we are dedicated to partnering with non-profit organizations around the country to make a difference."
