Buddy Bison Ambassador, Actor Dominic Scott Kay

National Park Trust is pleased to announce that teen actor, Dominic Scott Kay, has agreed to become National Park Trust's first Buddy Bison Ambassador. NPT Executive Director, Grace Lee says, "We are very excited that Dominic recognizes the importance of our vision that 'Everyone will have an American park experience'. His participation in our Buddy Bison programs will help NPT highlight the need to reconnect children and their families to our nation's parks."

The 13-year-old actor recently visited Malibu Creek State Park near where NPT is working on a land preservation project, saying "Please, visit our nation's parks and enjoy the beauty of nature. By keeping our parks clean and even volunteering, you can be a great supporter and we can all enjoy our beautiful parks for years to come."

Dominic has been an actor for nearly seven years and is probably best known for his appearance in the film, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, as the son of Will Turner, played by Orlando Bloom and Elizabeth Swann, played by Keira Knightley. He also voiced the character of Wilber in the film, Charlotte's Web.

NPT's Where's Buddy Bison Been(TM) initiative encourages children and their families to get outside, enjoy a park and then share their American park experience. Pictures of Buddy Bison, captured along his journeys are featured on NPT's website, www.parktrust.org, along with stories, songs or drawings that he has inspired. Buddy Bison's Facebook page and Google map application allow his friends to follow him wherever he roams.

This Fall NPT is launching the Where's Buddy Bison Been program in pilot schools to coincide with the launch of the new PBS Ken Burns film The National Park: America's Best Idea, which begins airing September 27th. Pilot schools will receive a Buddy Bison, a fuzzy brown plush toy, curriculum ideas, park maps, resource guides and activity sheets, allowing teachers to easily incorporate Buddy Bison into existing academic programming.
