August 13 /CSRwire/ - Beginning on August 19th 2009, Earthscan will offer a free one-hour webcast on a different topic each month, giving viewers the opportunity to learn from, and interact with, leading authorities from a range of different fields.

The audio presentations will be accompanied by illustrative slides and viewers will have the opportunity to contribute to discussions by submitting questions during the events. The subjects covered will include all of Earthscan's specialties, including business, climate change, energy, the built environment and natural resource management.

The first Earthcast, entitled Carbon Markets and Climate Change Mitigation, will be broadcast on Wednesday 19th August 2009 at 5pm GMT Summer Time (9am Pacific Daylight Time, 12pm Eastern Daylight Time) when the authors of Carbon Markets and Voluntary Carbon Markets will debate the effectiveness of market based mechanisms in helping to mitigate climate change.

Nicholas Howarth from the Oxford University School of Geography and Environment, Arnaud Brohé from CO2logic, Kate Hamilton from Ecosystem Marketplace and Ricardo Bayon from EKO Asset Management Partners will be analysing the current state of carbon markets, discussing possible future trends and fielding your questions on the issue. The second Earthcast, entitled Sustainable Business Practice: Process and Implementation, will be broadcast at the end of September 2009. Join the authors of The ISIS Agreement, The Step-by-Step Guide to Sustainability Planning and The Business Guide to Sustainability for an event that presents different yet complementary methods of providing sustainability training.

Alan AtKisson and Marsha Willard will tackle the issues faced by organisations attempting to implement sustainable practices, and explore the practical experiences of consulting firms AXIS Performance Advisors and The AtKisson Group in an international context. Earthscan: Publishing for a sustainable future

Earthscan is the world's leading publisher on sustainability, and have been publishing in this area for more than 20 years.

We publish original, reliable and significant work that helps to foster the conditions for genuine sustainability by providing the means for understanding and analyzing the issues and the tools for resolving them. Our business books represent the latest thinking in corporate social responsibility, green economics, sustainable investing, renewable technologies and emissions trading.

As part of our own environmental policy we are continually looking for ways to reduce the environmental impact of our activities, and we offset in full the carbon emissions resulting from our business: the production of our publications, their distribution and our full office and travel impacts.
