ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Intelligent Global Pooling Systems, operator of the world's first all-plastic pallet rental service with embedded radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, announced today that its revolutionary pallet, manufactured for it exclusively by Schoeller Arca Systems, has been featured on the "Our Planet" television series, which documents ways businesses are positively affecting the environment.

"We are delighted that 'Our Planet' has highlighted the unique and superior environmental benefits of iGPS's all-plastic pallet," said Bob Moore, CEO of iGPS. "Our revolutionary pallet is more environmentally responsible than wood pallets in so many ways. First, it is 30% lighter than the typical multi-use wood pallet, which translates into lower transport costs and less fuel for transport, reducing our dependence on foreign oil and associated pollution and green house gas emissions. Our pallet's light weight and durable construction means it is also easier and safer for workers to handle. Unlike wood, iGPS's pallet is non-porous so it cannot absorb harmful bacteria. Last, our pallets do not deplete our precious forest and they are 100% recyclable."

Recently, an independent life cycle analysis examined for the first time the environmental impact of three types of pallets commonly used today (pooled multi-use wood; single-use wood; and iGPS' pooled all-plastic pallet). The analysis found that-even with conservative assumptions-iGPS' all-plastic pallet had significantly less environmental impact than the wood pallets tested. This analysis is available on iGPS's web site: www.igps.net.
