Petaluma, Calif. "“ July 29, 2009 "“ HydroPoint Data Systems Inc., provider of the WeatherTRAK(R) Smart Water Management solution, today announced the next webcast in its Sustainability 2.0(TM) Educational Series. The July Smart Irrigation Month webcast outlines guidelines for sustainable savings utilizing the WeatherTRAK(R) smart irrigation controller. The webcast will be co-hosted by Allied Landscape Services and HydroPoint on Friday, July 31, 2009 at 2 pm ET.

More than 36 of the 50 U.S. states will face water shortages or droughts this year and many cities have implemented water restrictions or water rate increases via tiered water rates in response. Since outdoor irrigation accounts for almost 60 percent of urban water use, landscapers, contractors, and property managers must adopt Smart Water Management solutions to eliminate water waste found in outdoor irrigation and achieve substantial savings on their water bill.

To grow business and clientele despite water shortages, restrictions and drought conditions, landscape industry professionals can re-focus their services on the financial benefits of water and natural resource management. Landscapes are typically over-watered by 30-300 percent in part because the landscape industry historically has not had access to solutions that automatically adjust irrigation schedules based on landscape needs and local weather conditions. Smart Water Management eliminates urban runoff, promotes plant root health, decreases hardscape repair costs and reduces liability for water-related slip-and-fall accidents.

Loren McIrvin of Allied Landscape Services will share smart landscape irrigation best practices - from conducting initial site assessments to selecting market-leading solutions - to achieve sustainable savings with complete ROI analysis, measurement and verification reports. McIrvin will also discuss the benefits of using WeatherTRAK, the leading Smart Water Management technology currently on the market for outdoor irrigation.

"Webcast participants will learn to use Smart Water Management for outdoor irrigation, ultimately providing significant water and cost savings benefits for their own businesses or clients," said Sharon Thompson, vice president, marketing for HydroPoint. "Participants will come away with an understanding of the criteria that should be applied in selecting and implementing Smart Water Management solutions for the full range of landscapes. By selecting the right irrigation technologies and practices, landscape professionals lower operating costs, improve property values and reduce both energy and water footprints."
