Bloomington, IN. - June 23, 2009 - Twisted Limb Paperworks, the sustainable handmade recycled paper making and invitation company based in Bloomington, Indiana, announces the new brand, Remembrance Tree Papers for their new line of handmade 100% recycled memorial stationery. The line includes customized memorial bookmarks, guest registers, thank-you notes that can be embedded with wildflower seeds, memorial service invitations and programs. Handmade paper urns embedded with tree seeds will eventually be included.

"We wanted a brand name related to trees that would make sense to our current customers and a logo with a softer, more comforting look for grieving families who are not yet familiar with our business," founding artist and owner Sheryl Woodhouse-Keese says. The name Remembrance Tree Papers refers to the tree that the business will plant for each order, in honor of the deceased, through the organization Trees for the Future.

While Twisted Limb has two designers on staff, the company chose to have the new logo created through the website www.crowdspring.com to get fresh and multiple outside perspectives. Crowdspring.com provides a venue for designers in the U.S. and around the world to compete for prize money offered by organizations needing logos, stationery, and websites. Twenty different designers from several countries submitted 171 entries for the Remembrance Tree Papers logo over the course of one week. Christian Alduen, a designer from Puerto Rico, created the winning logo that now represents the Remembrance Tree Papers brand.

Christian V. Alduen-Castro studied Fine Arts at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez. He says, "art has always been a part of my life and I showed talent in drawing and painting from a young age." He now lives in Cabo Rojo, PR. where for more than eight years he has been working as a painter and graphic artist focused on creating different and unique designs. Among his clients are the March of Dimes of Puerto Rico and University of Puerto Rico. His portfolio can be viewed at http://xianart.blogspot.com/.

"We think Christian’s design is perfect for many reasons," Woodhouse-Keese says, "The way the tree trunk forms a lower case r for remembrance is reminiscent of how trees form the T and L in our Twisted Limb logo, and connects the two brands. While we wanted the name to be related to trees, we hadn’t thought about the logo being related to our original brand until we saw what Christian was trying to do, and we liked it. The hand sketched tree trunk and handwritten tag line, ‘Honoring life, renewing the earth.’ alludes to the artisan-crafted nature of our work. The bird is a hopeful symbol in the logo and will appeal to our environmentally conscious customers. The softness of the tree leaves and the shade of green make the entire logo comforting and appealing. We think he did the best job of capturing both our company and the appropriate mood."

Remembrance Tree Papers’ memorial bookmarks, guest registers, thank-you notes, and memorial service invitations and programs can be purchased by families directly at www.remembrancetreepapers.com or through their funeral director. Funeral directors interested in representing Remembrance Tree Papers can e-mail info@remembrancetreepapers.com.
