Minneapolis, MN - June 2, 2009 - Citing the strong need for better environmental record keeping, Verisae, Inc. is pleased to announce the enhanced ability of its Enterprise Refrigerant Manager (ERM) to capture the Global Warming Potential (GWP) values for an extensive list of refrigerants.
"Our customers want the capability to collect accurate GWP values so they can manage their impact on the environment", said Ted Gartland, Director of Refrigerant and Regulatory Compliance. "Reducing Carbon Footprint is on minds of several of our customers. The new non ozone depleting HFC refrigerants retailers have chosen to replace R-22 can have two to three times the direct global warming effect. Studies have shown effective refrigerant tracking can reduce grocer's environmental impact and significantly reduce maintenance costs."
Adding GWP values and reporting on total refrigerant status helps collect records for the recently announced EPA GREEN CHILL program. The voluntary program is specifically based on the food retail industry. Green Chill's Goal is to "promote the adoption of technologies, strategies and practices that lower emissions of ozone depleting substances and greenhouse gases." It is targeted at both HCFC and HFC refrigerant emissions. In order to participate in the program retailers will need up to date and highly accurate measurements, available by using Verisae ERM. Retailers current using Verisae ERM include Albertsons, ALDI, A&P Tea Co., Bashas', BJ's Wholesale Club, Brookshire Brothers Food and Pharmacy, Clemens Markets, Get Go, Giant Eagle, HyVee Stores, Jerry's Foods, Marsh Supermarkets, Publix, Safeway, Stater Bros., Tesco UK, Tesco Thailand, Village Pantry, Waldbaum's, and Whole Foods.
