- May 28, 2009 - A Cumbrian people development company has swept the board at the Financial Times Best Workplaces Awards 2009, including being named as 3rd Best Workplace in the UK.

Impact International, headquartered in the Lake District, with 17 offices around the world, are delighted with the result, which is the company’s best placing yet in an increasingly competitive and challenging environment.

Impact also won the special awards for "Learning & Leadership for Sustainability" and "Corporate Responsibility Excellence". These awards are testimony to their commitment to becoming a model of sustainable enterprise.

This competition is judged by the Financial Times and the Great Place to Work Institute and is open to organisations, large and small, across all sectors. As an SME, Impact were ranked against companies such as Diageo, Microsoft, British Gas and Danone.

Impact has entered the Financial Times Best Workplaces awards for the past four years and are delighted to have improved their ranking from 4th place last year, making it into the top three for 2009. Their position was awarded based on employees’ feedback about Impact in terms of Credibility, Respect, Fairness, Pride and Camaraderie.

Despite the current global economic crisis, Impact has continued to do well, recording its highest profits yet in 2008, whilst also announcing the launch of its newest office in Hong Kong and a social enterprise ‘Impact Beyond’ in the same year. To ensure the company maintains a strong position to meet future challenges, Impact has appointed a new innovation team to ensure it stays ahead of its competition and a new global leadership team to implement a number of strategic goals.

"It is a great achievement to be recognised by the Financial Times and The Great Place to Work Institute. Achieving these awards is testament to our culture, our values and our approach to creating a sustainable enterprise. Above all it is the people at Impact that make this business an amazing place to work. I was proud and honoured to accept these awards on behalf of our organisation, and would like to thank everyone for their continued support, passion and belief in Impact."
