Ten Southwest Idaho Non-profit Organizations Selected As Benefactors Of Boise's Premiere Sporting Event

Albertson's, Inc. is pleased to announce the recipients of funds from this year's Buy.com Boise Open tournament, to be held September 11-17, 2000. A total of ten non-profit organizations located in Southwest Idaho were selected based on their ability to positively improve the quality of life for the children in our community. The recipients are:

Junior League of Boise
Ballet Idaho
Idaho Black History Museum, Inc.
American Center for Educational Opportunities, Inc.
Juvenile Diabetes Foundation
The Idaho Food Bank
Treasure Valley RSVP/American Reads Program
Caldwell Girls Athletic League Softball, Inc. (G.A.L.S.)
Ada County Youth Babe Ruth Baseball, Inc.
McCall Ice Rink and Event Center

Since its inception, the tournament has provided over $975,000 to deserving organizations in Southwest Idaho. Albertson's is proud to bring the tournament to Boise and is committed to supporting the Treasure Valley. "The tournament continues to grow each year making it possible to assist an increasing number of organizations that positively impact our youth," said Gary Michael, chairman of the board and chief executive officer. "This year we plan to continue our tradition by bringing a first class sporting event to Boise and raising substantial dollars to support community-based organizations promoting the health and well being of children in Southwest Idaho."

In December, proceeds from this year's golf tournament will be awarded evenly among the ten selected recipients, with an anticipated award of ten to fifteen thousand dollars per grant. The twelve Southwest Idaho non-profit organizations selected to receive funds from last year's tournament were: the ARC, Boise Art Museum, City Light Home for Women & Children, Boy Scouts ~ Ore-Ida Council/ Girl Scouts ~ Silver Sage Council, Family Advocate Program, Family Wellness Center, Habitat for Humanity, Idaho Theater for Youth, Log Cabin Literary Center, March of Dimes, SANE Solutions-Sexual Abused Now Ended, and Zoo Boise. Recipients of funds from previous tournaments are not eligible to re-apply for a three-year period.
