NEW YORK - September 6, 2007 - Alcoa (NYSE:AA) announced today that it has been selected as a component of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes for the sixth consecutive year. Selection is based on an analysis of a company's economic, environmental and social performance.

Begun in 1999, the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes track the financial performance of the leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide.

"Being a component of this index family reflects our every day performance in search of excellence and the value we place as a company on sustainability," said Alcoa Chairman and CEO Alain Belda.

Alcoa's 2006 Corporate Sustainability Report highlights Alcoa's progress in sustainability and features engagement in our communities as a key to performance. An example: As a founding member of the U.S. Climate Action Partnership, Alcoa joined with twelve other companies and nongovernmental organizations to call on the U.S. government to enact legislation that would establish a cap and trade program to reduce carbon emissions that contribute to Global Climate Change. USCAP membership has now grown to 31 companies and organizations and is continuing to assist in the development of U.S. climate policy.
