NEW YORK, Avon Products, Inc. announced today that the Avon Foundation will present Natalie Cole in the Avon Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer Concert and Awards. The event, co-hosted by Star Jones, Leelee Sobieski, Thora Birch, Randolph Duke and Antonia Novello will be held on Monday, September 23 at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center in New York. The inaugural fundraising concert celebrates the 10th year of the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade and will help Avon reach an unprecedented goal of $250 million in total funds raised worldwide by the end of 2002.
The Avon Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer Concert and Awards is only one of many fundraising initiatives of the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade in the U.S. The Crusade is supported by some 550,000 independent Avon Sales Representatives and thousands of Avon associates nationwide, to raise funds and awareness for the breast cancer cause.
Avon Products, Inc. is committed to being the company for women, and in support of this mission has since 1992 supported breast cancer and other women's health issues worldwide. Avon now supports breast cancer programs in nearly 50 countries that fund access to care and finding a cure, with a total of some $235,000,000 raised as of July 2002. In the U.S., funds raised through the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade are awarded to medical research, clinical care, support services, education and early detection programs. The goal of the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade is to benefit all women, but there is special emphasis on reaching medically underserved women, including low-income, elderly and minority women, and women without adequate health insurance. Reversing historical disparities in breast cancer care is a priority for Avon breast cancer programs in the U.S. and around the world.

Avon Products, Inc. recognized the beauty of "corporate responsibility" nearly a century before the term became part of the cultural lexicon. From the very beginning, in 1886, forward-thinking Avon founder David H. McConnell committed his company "to meet fully the obligations of corporate citizenship by contributing to the well-being of society and the environment in which it functions" - words that still guide the company more than 125 years later.
Avon is committed to the mission to "do well by doing good," managing its business enterprise to the highest standards while leveraging its unique capacity to mobilize and engage people to be agents of change in their lives, communities and the world.
Avon's Corporate Responsibility reflects the three pillars of Avon's corporate mission and drives the focus of the company's corporate responsibility efforts and achievements:
