WOONSOCKET, R.I. - November 26, 2007 - CVS Caremark All Kids Can, in partnership with Scholastic, announced today the distribution of free teaching guides and take home activities for families, to inspire students to discover their own special abilities and qualities and appreciate unique qualities in others. CVS Caremark All Kids Can is a program of the CVS Caremark Charitable Trust and CVS Caremark; Scholastic is the global children’s publishing, education and media company.

Targeted to second graders nationwide, CVS Caremark All Kids Can is providing these guides free to teachers and parents as part of its commitment to help children of all abilities become the best they can be. The All Kids Can goals are to support children with disabilities by raising awareness in schools and local communities about the importance of inclusion, creating greater opportunities for physical activity and play, and providing access to medical rehabilitation and related services.

"Every day, teachers face the challenge of instructing students who have different learning styles, language proficiencies and knowledge, while working to build a supportive classroom where every child can shine," said Eileen Howard Dunn, Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications and Community Relations for CVS Caremark. "Through our classroom and family guides, every child can learn that there are many ways to be a successful student."

The All Kids Can Learn teacher's guide includes an interactive "Class Tree" poster and language arts lessons, helping students identify and write about the qualities that make their class - and each member of it - special. The lessons also offer tips for varying instruction to meet the needs of different types of learners. The family take-home activities include a similar "Family Tree" project and language arts lessons.

"We are proud to join CVS Caremark, to spread the message in schools about the importance of inclusion," said Ann Amstutz-Hayes, Vice President of Scholastic InSchool Division. "These materials offer teachers and parents great opportunities to engage in conversations with their children about the importance of acceptance and being a good person."

The teacher and family guides were sent to 10,000 elementary schools across the country. Teachers who would like to request a copy of the All Kids Can Learn curriculum can send an e-mail to communitymailbox@cvs.com.
