CHICAGO, IL.- CA and the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) announced their new global education partnership at the School of Entrepreneurship along side Arne Duncan, the Chief Executive Officer of the Chicago Public School System. The partnership will consist of a $500,000 donation from CA to the nonprofit that will be used to help promote programs in Chicago and other cities in the United States as well as abroad in the United Kingdom and South Africa. CA's donation will help NFTE reach 32,000 plus young people in the coming school year which will bring the nonprofit closer to its goal of serving 100,000 young people globally each year through its partnerships by the year 2012.

Arne Duncan and Bill Gerstein, Principal of the School of Entrepreneurship, spoke at the event, lending their support for the CA-NFTE collaboration. Mr. Duncan stated, "We are appreciative of the work that NFTE is doing in our schools to promote entrepreneurial and business education. CA's donation will help NFTE provide more young people in our community with the critical skills they need to be successful later in life."

The National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship teaches business, academic and life skills to young people from low-income communities. Teachers trained and certified to teach the curriculum as well as students enrolled in the program have given the NFTE curriculum high marks. A recent Harvard University research study also indicated that youth entrepreneurship programs such as NFTE are particularly effective at keeping students from low-income, urban backgrounds on track academically.

NFTE spokesperson, Mike Caslin, vice president for public policy, highlighted the importance of their collaboration with CA. He stated, "Our partnership with CA will help us to increase our capacity and have a greater impact on Chicago's young people." Christine Poorman, Executive Director for NFTE's Chicago Office also added, "During the 2005-2006 school year, NFTE programs operated at 32 Chicago sites, reaching almost 1400 students. We expect to see a 34 percent increase this year in the number of students participating in the program."

"CA Together is committed to improving the quality of life in communities around the globe where we live and work," said Gino Menchini, CA's vice president for their North America public sector. "We are honored that our first global partnership is with the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship. We are confident that this donation will aid NFTE in providing more young people with the entrepreneurial and academic support needed to succeed in life."

The CA Together program works with nonprofits around the globe, providing them with the support and resources to enrich the lives of the people they serve. Through this program, CA equips nonprofits with the economic and technological capacity necessary to offer more services to more people. In addition to working with NFTE, CA has partnered with nonprofits such as Teach for America, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.
