Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA), the world’s leading provider of eBusiness management solutions, announced today that CAREERS & the disABLED magazine named it the Private Sector Employer of the Year.

CA received the honor from magazine editors, who evaluated the disability-related initiatives and recruitment, hiring, and promotion policies of more than 150 private sector companies.

"Our annual awards process seeks to identify those employers who go the extra mile in creating a highly favorable working environment for people with disabilities," said James Schneider, director of editorial and production, CAREERS & the disABLED magazine. "CA is very deserving of this award and should be proud of its accomplishments in this area."

Past winners of the Private Sector Employer of the Year award have included Microsoft Corporation, Hyatt Hotels, Eastman Kodak, and AT&T. The U.S. Social Security Administration was named Public Sector Employer of the Year.

"By creating and maintaining a work environment where anyone with skills and a desire to be successful can flourish, CA has actually gained a competitive advantage over other companies that don’t give people with disabilities the ability to contribute to their success," said Deborah Coughlin, senior vice president human resources, CA. "We are delighted to be recognized for our efforts by yet another well-respected publication and are particularly proud of the valued employees who have helped make CA such a model corporate workplace."

CA recently received the number one raking in the diversity category of the second annual “"100 Best Corporation Citizens" survey conducted by Business Ethics magazine, a leading publication focused on socially responsible business and investing. The company was cited for its equitable treatment of women and minorities
