Dana Corporation (NYSE: DCN) announced today that its Motors and Controls facility in Chihuahua, Mexico, has been awarded the “Clean Industry” certification from the Mexican government.

This is the highest recognition awarded by Mexico’s Federal Agency for Environmental Protection (PROFEPA). It is awarded to those companies that are identified through an “environmental audit” process as protecting the environment and fostering development through an environmental company culture.

“This distinguishes our company as a workplace that protects its employees, the community and the environment through environmental audits and action plans”, said Chihuahua plant manager, Enrique Hurtado.

This certification is valid for two years and is renewed by PROFEPA’s Committee for Evaluation and Approval of Environmental Audits. PROFEPA has awarded 470 companies in Mexico this certification. Dana’s Chihuahua facility is one of nine companies to earn certification this year in the state of Chihuahua.

The Chihuahua facility employs 700 people and manufactures speed controls for Ford through its soon-to-be-independent Visteon operations. Approximately 3.6 million speed controls are manufactured at the Chihuahua facility each year for various Ford, Toyota, and Mazda passenger vehicles and light-duty trucks.

The group’s product lines include Victor Reinz® gaskets and sealing products, Perfect Circle® piston rings and engine parts, Glacier® Vandervell® engine bearings, and powertrain components manufactured by Dana’s Plumley Division.
