People helped by the American Red Cross and its New York City chapter are primary beneficiaries of an expected $3 million of support from Dell, its employees and the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation in the aftermath of last week's terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C.
"Ours is a small part of the massive outpouring of assistance, and is carried by our prayers and deepest sympathies for the families and organizations directly touched by these events," said Kevin B. Rollins, Dell's president and chief operating officer.
Mr. Rollins said Dell last Tuesday began working directly with corporate, government and other customers rebuilding their operations. Among other steps, the company has prioritized the needs of those customers in expediting purchasing, securing and allocating components, building and distributing computer systems, and delivering related services.
