Diversity, work-family programs and strong career advancement opportunities have again earned Fannie Mae (FNM/NYSE), the nation’s largest source of financing for home mortgages, a place on the list of "Top 25 Companies for Executive Women" according to Working Woman magazine.

The magazine’s third annual ranking of leading companies found that companies are realizing the importance and potential of the still largely untapped female talent pipeline. The list ranks publicly held Fortune 100 companies with at least two women on the board of directors and a significant percentage of women in senior management positions. The rankings are printed in the December/January issue of Working Woman, now on newsstands.

"Diversity is a growth industry," said Maria Johnson, vice president for diversity at Fannie Mae. "Some high-performing companies are starting diversity initiatives not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because of the fierce competition for qualified minority employees. We think it’s a formula that works for all employees, including women, who make up nearly 55 percent of our work force, and almost 45 percent of our management group."

Working Woman magazine selected the Top 25 Companies based on some of the following criteria: tenures of high ranking women, increased work-family programs and increased advancement for women. The survey also found that women, on average, have tenures twice as long as men of comparable rank.
