June 28, 2007- For a more sustainable future, Ford Motor Company's eighth sustainability report, is now available at http://www.ford.com/go/sustainability.

A printed report, includes a discussion of Ford's integrated strategy, technological innovation, and external dialogue and partnerships in the opening letter by Executive Chairman and CEO Bill Ford and Alan Mulally; information on Ford's material sustainability issues, including climate change, human rights, mobility, vehicle safety and sustaining Ford; and a five year data summary. A full Web report provides additional discussion and data about Ford's performance according to its Business Principles, including perspectives from Ford employees and external experts.

Highlights include:

  • Creation of a new position: Senior Vice President, Sustainability, Environment and Safety Engineering responsible for setting strategy, establishing goals and integrating sustainability across Ford. This effort will be led by Sue Cischke.

  • A section on Ford's industry-leading human rights initiatives.

  • A section on climate change that includes an estimate of Ford's climate change emissions and our recent announcement to join the United States Climate Action Partnership (USCAP).

  • A reduction in global energy use by 27 percent and water use by more than 25 percent since 2000.

  • A 22 percent improvement in the energy efficiency of Ford's North American facilities, earning recognition by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy as an "Energy Star Partner of the Year" for the second year in a row.

  • Discussion of Ford's innovation on the road today including nearly 47,000 hybrids vehicles and 4 million vehicles globally with electronic stability control systems.

  • Discussion of how Ford is handling workforce reductions and facility closures responsibly.
