CLEVELAND, OH- March 1, 2007 "“ Henry L. Meyer III, chairman and CEO of KeyCorp, will receive the 2007 NAACP Freedom Award, the highest honor presented by a NAACP Branch. Mr. Meyer is a longtime supporter and a champion when it comes to commitments related to human and civil rights in the community and nationally. Under his leadership, Key is a major voice in advancing diversity in Cleveland’s corporate community.

The Freedom Award will be presented at the Cleveland Branch NAACP 48th Annual Freedom Fund Dinner, Saturday, June 16, 2007 at the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel, Grand Ballroom in Downtown Cleveland. This year’s theme is "A Community Peaced Together." The Cleveland Branch Freedom Fund Dinner traditionally attracts over 1,300 people to this star-studded event. The program will start promptly at 6:00 p.m. followed by an After Glow at 8:30 p.m.

The annual dinner continues a tradition of excellence and responsibility to raise funds for local programs to improve quality of life in Greater Cleveland, including initiatives focusing on economic development and youth leadership.

As in the past, the evening will include the presentation of the Carl B. Stokes Scholarship Awards to some of the Cleveland area’s best high school seniors by retired Congressman Louis Stokes.

The NAACP is the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization. Its mission is to ensure political, educational, social and economic equality for all people.
