CLEVELAND -- More than 300 Cleveland-area community projects will benefit from the volunteer services of some 2,600 Key employees on Thursday, September 14. Some Key facilities will close early that day so that employees may participate in this annual community service day.
Three Cleveland projects are of particular note:
"As a bank, we often help to improve the financial infrastructure of the cities and towns in which we do business," noted Henry Meyer, KeyCorp's (NYSE: KEY) chairman and chief executive officer. "But the activities Key employees take on as part of 'Neighbors Day' go far beyond business as usual. This help comes straight from their hearts, and reflects their commitment and desire to make a very personal contribution to their communities."
One of the leading organized corporate volunteerism efforts in America, Neighbors Make the Difference Day is the hallmark of Key's year-round volunteerism and philanthropic investment in its communities. Each project is an extension of the company's commitment to helping people and communities achieve economic self-sufficiency, primarily through involvement in financial education and workforce development programs that foster diversity and inclusion.
Nationwide, more than 7,000 employees of KeyCorp, will engage in the company's 17th annual Neighbors Make the Difference Day. Key staff will spend approximately 28,000 hours volunteering for a wide array of community service projects in neighborhoods from Maine to Alaska.
Neighbors Make the Difference Day
KeyBank established Neighbors Make the Difference Day in 1990 as a beach clean up project among its employees in Alaska. In 1993, KeyCorp rolled out Neighbor's Day nationally as a means of enhancing the quality of life in communities where its 20,000 employees live and work. While most KeyBank branches close at noon on Neighbors Make the Difference Day, certain locations will remain open. As always, customers will have access to ATMs. For more information, call 1.800.KEY2YOU.
