DALLAS - Kimberly-Clark Corporation (NYSE: KMB) announced today it is contributing $100,000 to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to assist in meeting the urgent needs of tsunami victims in South Asia. In addition to this contribution, the company also is donating Personal Care and Health Care products to support relief efforts in the region.

Kimberly-Clark is donating Huggies diapers, Kotex feminine pads, Scott tissue products and Safeskin surgical gloves. Products will be distributed in coordination with local relief agencies or in conjunction with UNICEF.

"On behalf of everyone within the Kimberly-Clark family, we offer our deepest condolences to the people throughout the region," said Thomas J. Falk, Kimberly-Clark Chairman and CEO. "It is our hope that K-C's contributions, combined with the humanitarian efforts of the world's aid organizations, will help ease the immediate suffering of the people affected by this tragedy."

UNICEF is rushing relief assistance to the countries hardest hit by massive ocean flooding following Sunday's earthquake, working to meet the immediate needs of hundreds of thousands of people who survived the tsunami but now need shelter, water, medical supplies and other critical assistance.

"We thank Kimberly-Clark for their quick action in providing aid to the tsunami-struck countries," said Charles J. Lyons, President of the Fund. "This commitment represents just the latest in a legacy of support the company has provided to assist UNICEF in its efforts to strengthen families and meet the urgent needs of children around the world."

"There will be difficult days ahead as the region begins to recover, but we take heart in the outpouring of support shown by individuals, charities, and companies from around the world," said Tim Baade, Managing Director of Kimberly-Clark Thailand. "In addition to the company's donations, our regional K-C facilities and employees responded immediately with product donations, blood drives and local relief assistance. We will continue to provide support to help our neighbors and communities rebuild in the aftermath of this disaster."

Kimberly-Clark is a leading employer in the area with more than 9,500 employees in Thailand, Indonesia and India. The company said that all of its people are safely accounted for and that its facilities in the region continue normal operations.
