McDonald's ranked first among 141 U.S. corporations surveyed on Workforce diversity initiatives, corporate outreach, employee relations processes, and other related issues. McDonald's ranked fifth in Fortune's 2002 survey.
"We strive to develop and maintain a diverse workforce that will strengthen the McDonald's system," said Ralph Alvarez, executive vice president and chief operations officer for McDonald's USA and the U.S. company's highest-ranking Hispanic. "We are proud of our long-standing commitment to our employees, our suppliers and the ideal of reflecting thediverse communities we serve."
Fortune's recognition of McDonald's diversity efforts is one of the latest earned by the company. McDonald's has also been recognized by the following publications and organizations:
