DELRAY BEACH, FL - Office Depot, Inc. (NYSE:ODP), one of the world's largest resellers of office products, today was named one of the National Association for Female Executives' (NAFE) Top 30 Companies for Executive Women. This is the second consecutive year that NAFE, the largest women's professional and business association in the country, has named Office Depot to the list.

"We are delighted that Office Depot has once again been recognized by NAFE for our commitment to women," said Bruce Nelson, Chairman and CEO of Office Depot. "Making Office Depot a compelling place to work is a top priority, and it is particularly gratifying for us to be honored for our efforts and to be included in such select company."

Office Depot's commitment to women is evident on many levels. The company recently appointed its fourth woman to its 12-member executive team -- women currently serve as Chief Information Officer, Chief Marketing Officer, Executive Vice President of Global E-Commerce and Executive Vice President of North American Delivery Sales -- and, in 2002, named its second woman to its board of directors. Further, 40% of the company's domestic managers are women.

"At Office Depot, we strive to cultivate an environment in which all individuals can reach their full potential," Nelson noted. "We view workforce diversity as integral to our success, and our approach to it is evident in all aspects of our organization."

He stated that the company also provides a number of work/life balance programs that appeal to women, including pilates classes, mother's rooms, a maternity information series, Summer Camp Expo, investment workshops and periodic onsite mammogram screenings.

According to Nelson, Office Depot's support extends beyond its employees to include customers as well. For example, the company focuses on the unique business needs of women through the guidance of its Women's Business Council. The council consists of women representing companies of all sizes, both for- and not-for-profit, who visit with Office Depot management throughout the year to discuss how the company can better meet the needs of women in business.

Additionally, the company will hold its Success Strategies for Businesswomen Conference - now in its fourth year - on February 22-24, 2004 at the Boca Resort & Club in Boca Raton, Fla. The three-day conference features keynote presentations by Hillary Clinton, Katie Couric and Mary Matalin, among others, as well as sessions targeted to the specific interests and needs of women small business owners and entrepreneurs. More than 700 women from across the country are expected to attend.
