ATLANTA,GA - The GREENGUARD Environmental Institute (GEI) announces the certification of the first low emitting foam insulation, Owens Corning's Foamular(R) and PROPINK(R). Certification was also awarded to Owens Corning's PINK fiberglass batts and rolls, ceiling and wall insulations, blowing wools, acoustic floor mat, and black acoustic blanket. GREENGUARD certifies that the Owens Corning's insulation products are low emitting and have minimal impact on indoor air quality. The certified products completed a series of rigorous emissions tests and will be monitored on an ongoing basis to ensure continual compliance with the GREENGUARD Standard.

"Being acknowledged by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute is an honor," said George Kiemle, President of Owens Corning's Insulating Systems Business. He added, "This high-caliber third-party certification gives our customers confidence that using our products results in structures with fewer emissions."

Poor indoor air quality is caused by chemical emissions that are released from common indoor products and materials such as furniture, insulation, wallcovering, and flooring. Choosing low emitting products can significantly reduce the level of potentially irritating contaminates in the indoor environment. The GREENGUARD Certification Program helps builders, architects, interior designers, specifying professionals, and consumers create better indoor environments by providing a online resource to scientifically tested low emitting products.

"We applaud Owens Corning for their commitment to indoor air quality and their effort to help GREENGUARD spread the message about the importance of indoor air quality to building professionals and homeowners everywhere," said Henning Bloech, GEI Director of Communications. "Consumers can now find an increasing number of GREENGUARD Certified products at their local home improvement store."

About the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute(TM)

The GEI is an independent, non-profit organization that oversees the GREENGUARD Certification Program, including the establishment of acceptable standards for indoor products and testing protocols. GREENGUARD Certified or tested furniture and furnishings are part of the United States Green Building Council's LEED for Commercial Interiors Program. The GREENGUARD Certification Program is the only independent testing program for low-emitting products. Access to the GREENGUARD Product Guide(TM), at Greenguard, is provided at no charge.
