OVERLAND PARK, KS - Community centers in America are about to get a facelift thanks to the Sprint Community Connection Tour. In a nationwide rehabilitation effort, thousands of Sprint employees and Rebuilding Together are working with community organizations in fourteen markets to help revitalize facilities and provide more access for constituents with disabilities.

The Sprint Community Connection Tour will kick off May 31, 2003, with Sprint employees from the Los Angeles area rolling up their sleeves and getting their hands dirty to help the Boys and Girls Club in East Pasadena, which serves over 2,000 area children. Volunteers will be patching and painting the gymnasium, pouring concrete for a wheelchair ramp to increase accessibility and creating garden plots for children to learn about Botany.

“Rebuilding Together applauds Sprint’s commitment to building a better America,” said Patricia Johnson, president of Rebuilding Together. “The community-mindedness of Sprint has made a major difference to thousands of people in need in hundreds of cities and towns across the nation.”

The Sprint Community Connection Tour will continue to touch lives through October in cities such as Atlanta, Chicago, Columbus, Ohio, Denver, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, Plymouth, Ind., San Francisco and Washington, D.C.

This marks the fifteenth year that Sprint and Rebuilding Together have partnered to help preserve and revitalize homes and communities across the country. In the last four years, the Sprint Foundation has donated $560,000 to Rebuilding Together and Sprint volunteers have completed refurbishment projects in 39 cities and counties across the country, impacting more than 350 homes and community centers.

“Our partnership with Rebuilding Together is a testament to our employees and Sprint’s dedication to the communities it serves,” said Jerry Glazier, director of Corporate Relations and the Sprint Foundation. “With sponsorships like this, we are able to make a difference person by person and touch the lives of those in need.”
