Target Stores and Mervyn's California Donate $15,000 to Help Victims of Los Alamos Fire

Target Corporation (NYSE: TGT) today announced that Target Stores and Mervyn's California together have donated $15,000 to the American Red Cross to help victims of this week's fire in Los Alamos, N.M.

The fire has destroyed more than 280 homes and forced 25,000 people from the town, leaving many area residents in need of relief items and basic living necessities. The $15,000 donation by Target Stores and Mervyn's California is allowing those in need to receive clothing, blankets, water, baby formula, health care supplies and other items.

Other Target and Mervyn's donations include:

1,000 Helping Hugs plush bears by Target for children at shelters;

Socks, underwear and T-shirts by local Target and Mervyn's stores to area firefighters;

Clothing, non-perishable foods and diapers by local Target and Mervyn's guests and team members to local shelters;

Gift certificates by local Target and Mervyn's stores for guest merchandise, such as board games.

Target Corporation operates large-store general merchandise formats, including discount stores, moderate-priced promotional and traditional department stores. The company currently operates 1,252 stores in 45 states. This includes 921 Target stores, 267 Mervyn's stores and 64 Department Stores.
