BOULDER, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 16, 2007--Wild Oats Markets, Inc. (NASDAQ: OATS), a leading national natural and organic foods retailer, announced today the Company and its customers donated $500,000 worth of food and money during the 2006 holiday season. The food donation was made possible through the Wild Oats' Grab 'n' Give/Bag Hunger program, in which grocery bags were filled with non-perishable staple food items and were available for purchase by Wild Oats customers.

More than 28,000 Wild Oats Grab 'n' Give grocery bags were purchased by customers and then donated to an organization of the customers' choice or were dropped off at food bank collection bins at Wild Oats stores across the country. Wild Oats provided the food in the bags at cost, thereby donating any profits the Company would have made on the sale of those food items.

Wild Oats also donated more than $97,000 to local anti-hunger groups and worldwide hunger programs through the Food for All program, a point-of-purchase fundraiser that ran in all stores throughout the holiday season. Customers donated money at the cash registers using tear-off coupons in denominations of $1, $3 and $5.

Both donation programs took place at all Wild Oats, Henry's Farmers Market and Sun Harvest stores and ran from Nov. 15 through Dec. 31, 2006.
