NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 19, 2007--MicroEdge, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Advent Software (NASDAQ: ADVS) and leading provider of solutions for the grantmaking community worldwide, today announced that the World Lung Foundation (WLF) has selected GIFTS(R) grants management system to administer grantmaking programs in conjunction with their multi-million dollar global anti-smoking initiative.

Other partner organizations in this global initiative are the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Foundation, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and World Health Organization. A key piece of the WLF component of this initiative is implementation of a grants program that will help low and middle-income countries around the world in their tobacco control efforts. The focus countries account for approximately half of the world's smokers.

According to Elizabeth Myatt, CEO and Executive Director for WLF, "MicroEdge is a recognized leader in the grantmaking industry, and the GIFTS(R) grantmaking system met every one of our requirements. In addition, we were working on a very tight schedule, and MicroEdge was able to quickly implement our system within our critical timetable."

"We're so pleased that MicroEdge has the opportunity to play a vital part in this important and historic initiative," said Kevin Carlsten, MicroEdge Vice President of Operations. "We are honored that GIFTS(R) was chosen to help manage the full integration of the processes of giving for this project -- managing and accounting for funds as well as awarding grants - to create an effective, efficient and outcomes-based initiative."

The World Lung Foundation (WLF) works in partnership with organizations throughout the world to fight against and rid the world of tobacco, tuberculosis, and all forms of lung disease. Tobacco is the second major cause of death in the world, responsible for the death of one in ten adults worldwide, or about five million deaths each year. It is estimated that half of the people who smoke today will eventually be killed by the direct or indirect effects of tobacco.
